A Closer Look at Rawsco's Nutrient-Rich Beef Recipe

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

Rawsco, a Tampa-based raw dog food company, has caught our attention with its commitment to crafting high-quality canine nutrition. Using locally sourced ingredients, they create small-batch, all-natural food that ticks all the boxes—grain-free, preservative-free, synthetic-free, and filler-free. Their focus? Delivering optimal health for your furry friend with a well-balanced blend of essential nutrients.

They offer two recipes: Beef and Chicken & Beef meal. We are only focusing on their Beef recipe.

Is it Complete and Balanced? While the ingredients' promise is intriguing, a detailed nutritional breakdown or meat percentages would provide more clarity. It's worth noting, however, that this food serves as an excellent foundation for any dog's diet—variety remains vital.

Weight and packaging of the product: Packaged in handy two-pound plastic containers reminiscent of Chinese wonton soup holders, Rawsco's meals are a convenient choice. The sizing aligns well with Yenko's meals, spanning almost two days of feasting, all without the mess.

Visuals of the meat: Upon cracking open the container, you're met with a pleasing sight—the meat's minimal oxidation defied expectations. You can spot and recognize each whole-food ingredient listed on the packaging.

Taste: Yenko loved this!

The goodness of this recipe starts with the intriguing ingredients. Let's begin with Sardines, brimming with Omega-3s (EPA and DHA), vitamins D and B12, amino acids, coenzyme Q10, calcium, and iron. Hemp Seed Oil introduces essential fatty acids that can significantly enhance a dog's well-being. And then there's the unique addition of dandelion leaves—a natural detoxifier enriched with vitamins, minerals, and anti-inflammatory properties. And let's not forget the power-packed blueberries, complemented by the nutritional punch of Phytoplankton (a whole food loaded with omega-3s and antioxidants) and kelp, promoting muscle development and digestion.

Now, onto the beef itself! We decided to prepare it for ourselves, using low heat. The result? An enjoyable experience. I didn't divulge any ingredient specifics to Oscar other than it was beef. Surprisingly, he loved it—sardines included—a testament to the recipe's craftsmanship.

Poop: PERFECTION!

Price: $14.99 for a two-pound package or $115 for a 16-pound box.

Delivery: Delivery is currently limited to local areas. For those with wanderlust, this could be the ideal excuse for a weekend trip to Tampa.

Other Things to note: While I'm enamored with Rawsco's meals, a curiosity nags—why bone meal? Where is the bone meal sourced? That said, my appreciation for their product remains steadfast.

Rawsco's Beef recipe has won my heart for its thoughtful ingredient selection, nutrition-rich profile, and Yenko-approved taste. While some questions linger, the potential is undeniable. If only they delivered, it'd undoubtedly be a recurring base in Yenko's meal rotation.

Update: Rawsco reached out to us after our blog post, and we're all about transparency, so here's the scoop. You know how we mentioned the bone meal? Well, turns out Rawsco sources their bone meal from a company that's all about top-quality cattle from New Zealand. And guess what? No extras are thrown into the mix—just pure, wholesome goodness.

Now, about those beef bones—Rawsco doesn't currently have the gear to grind 'em down for their recipes. But here's the cool part: it's all because they're serious about every single pup-client they serve. They want to ensure their product is A+ before reaching your furry friend's bowl.

Kudos to Rawsco for reaching out and keeping the convo going. We're all for brands that care, and this just shows they've got their priorities straight.

As always, we're here to keep you in the loop with the latest and greatest for your pups. Keep those tails wagging, folks!
